fungi (polyporus squamosus) dryad's saddle - also known as the pheasants back mushroom, which has started to lose it's first bloom of youth, 22 days since the first picture was taken. and started to decay, although it seems to have served it's useful purpose-until next year, growing on an old dead elm tree stump ,(ulmes procera) the tree stump is stained,with the purple dye from the decaying fungi. due to a fully paid up member of the mass chainsaw brigade, this fungi and tree stump is now no more, all for the sake of 2 or 3 logs. the becks, langholm, dumfriesshire, scotland. view large
