Cortona - Chiesa di San Francesco: chiostro e campanile.
Costruita nel 1245, la chiesa adotta il tipico schema francescano: un'ampia aula conclusa da una scarsella voltata a crociera affiancata da due cappelle minori anch'esse a crociera.
La facciata conserva il portale a sesto acuto strombato, con tre colonnette nello sguancio, e l'imposta di un grande occhio. Nell'abside sono visibili i profili delle bifore gotiche parzialmente murate. Sul lato sinistro è visibile l'ala orientale del chiostro dove si aprono due bifore, oggi murate, e una porta a sesto acuto, relative alla sala capitolare.
Built in 1245, the church adopts the typical Franciscan pattern: A large room which concludes with an apse forming a groin vault sided by two smaller chapels also utilizing a groin vault.
The facade retains a lancet arched main door, with three small columns in a recess, and a large circular window setting placed above. In the apse are the profiles of the partially walled Gothic windows. On the left, the eastern wing of the cloister is visible, where there are two windows, now walled, and an arched door, on the Chapter House.
