Finally, an installed frame
I used Tom's (the designer) specification on building the frame in regards to housing the glass. The mitered and removable inner frames along with caulking will hold the glass in place. Via a drill press, I drilled properly angled holes for small screws to restrain these mitered frames. I plan to leave a 1/8" gap between the frame and glass perimeter unless advised otherwise. This side of the frame needs a thin coat of epoxy applied to resist moisure penetration. Eventually, eight coats of varnish will be applied.
The opening center section must still be built. I'm very happy with my windshield frame and look forward to the day I can conclude that the appearance of a varnished mahogany windshield frame was worth the additional care and subsequent time to fabricate it.
