Scraping off the squeegee ridge lines and then some
24 hrs after applying fairing compound (based on temperature differences, your wait time may vary) I knocked down the ridges left by the squeegee. The paint scraper from Home Depot worked well on the ridges and I also used it to smooth out some minor sags in the bow area and knock down some high areas. In fact I got into the habit of scraping most hull areas as it is so easy. The scaper is only second to my hot glue gun in my favorite hand tool category.
Anything to cut down on sanding is a noble cause.
