Reinforcing stem
I used laminated fir for reinforcing the stem area. I shaped the fir to a rough fit in the stem seam. I continued the reinforcement into the knuckle area perhaps helping out if I impact a floating object.
The fir was set in thickened epoxy and braced for 24 hours. Fillets were applied and the fir was then covered and further attached to the hull with 17oz biaxial fiberglass tape.
From the outside of the hull in the stem, stainless steel screws were driven through the topside panels into this fir stem reinforcement.
