Cane installation learning curve
This is the door for the locker in front of the helm station. This is the second door I installed cane on. This door has two frame sections in it. On the first door of my cane installation endeavors, I had difficulty keeping the cane material aligned using techniques found on Utube tutorials. I adopted technique of using clamps to hold the material in alignment while I forced the material into the groove. Once the strands were forced into the groove, white glue was applied in the groove and then a wooden spline was pounded into the groove.
Prior to installation, the cane material was soaked in water for 20 minutes. Shrinkage occurs as the cane dries out thus it becomes very taunt in the frame.
