Scribing dodger panels
Soapstone chalk appears to be the best device to scribe new panels on dark colored Sunbrella. A soapstone pencil from a fabric store was useless as the sharpened pencil point repeatly snapped off.
Ann sent me off to Crate and Barrel where I purchased a soapstone stick: SKU 539325. I'm happy with this stick. It's 4" long x 1/2" square. It needs to be frequently sharpened with a knife which is the nature of the material.
In the welding section at Home Depot they sell soapstone sticks in the shape of a construction pencil.
Seems to me, that using the old dodger panels as patterns (versus starting from scratch with pattern material) substantially reduces the risk of a new dodger not properly fitting to the existing stainless steel rails.
