Laughing Gulls Mating "Slippery When Wet" !! Fort DeSoto Park
Laughing Gulls courtship is very elaborate and beautiful to watch!! The potential couple will fly down onto the beach next to each other. The male will then parade around the female checking her out. After some beak touching and each raising their heads and calling, things are getting close!! Then one of the more intersting things happens. The male will walk up to the female and open his mouth and the female will stick her head into the open mouth and pull out pieces of fish for the special occassion and eat them ( you knew fish were involved somewhere in this)!!
That brings us up to this image, it's time to make little Laughing Gulls!! He circled around her, flew up onto her back and he Slips off the little ladies back. (Embarrassment!!) She promptly flies off and ends the romance!!
