Lord Eglinton
The Wicker Women
St Ninian's Cave near Whithorn on the southernmost extremity of Scotland's Machar peninsula. Around AD 397 a hirsute Saint Ninian (Patron Saint of Hipsters) disembarked from a leaky coracle and unleashed Christianity upon a population of wode wearing Picts.
In recent times the cave was used to promulgate an entirely different religion - Christopher Lee used it as a shortcut to the sacrificial BBQ in the penultimate scene of Robert Hardy's excellent 1973 folk horror 'The Wicker Man'.
