Another one of the babies out at CARE, a rescue center for big cats that I volunteer at whenever possible.
Species: Felis Concolor - Cougar AKA Mountain Lion or Puma
Sex: Female
Born: 11.12.1999
Tawney is an extremely spirited cougar with a lot of attitude. She lives in an enclosure with Roscoe on the northwest side of the CARE facility. Because she lives with such a CARE celebrity, she sometimes has a problem with jealousy. Tawney can be such an absolutely sweet and endearing kitty, and anyone who goes to say hello to Roscoe needs to spend just as much time saying hello to her. At first glance, she seems abrasive, but don’t let that throw you. She only seems that way because, like many of our cats, it simply takes a little bit of time for her to trust new people. After a while of getting to know her, one finds out that she is actually very loving. She has trouble dealing with her emotions whenever she becomes lonely and jealous, so she will sometimes act out aggressively towards Roscoe.
The only thing that Tawney wants is a good friend, so if you are thinking of adopting Tawney, then please also consider spending your time with her. She would greatly appreciate it, and you can find out what a truly wonderful cat she is!
