Oriental White-eye (Small White Eye) Zosterops palpebrosa - හීන් මල් කුරුල්ලා

 

Identification :

(10 cm) Smaller and yellower than Sri Lankan White-eye. Mainly greenish-yellow, white-ring only narrowly broken to front; greyish-white lower Brest, belly, and flanks. Active and acrobatic when feeding making contact calls, following one another through tree foliage seeking invertebrates and nectar.

 

Voice :

A constant "tseer tseer" contact call

 

Status and Distribution :

Common resident in forests, gardens, almost any-where with trees in lowlands and hills to 1300 in wet zone and up to 2000 m in drier eastern hills.

 

Nesting :

In small cup slung between thin branches; mainly April-May and September
