Name : White-browed Bulbul
Scientific Name : Pycnonotus penicillatus
In Sinhala : "Galu Gudu Kondaya"
Captured Location : 5th Mile Post - Trincomalee
Identification : (20 Cm) Only local bulbul with white eyebrow. Brown crown, obvious white eyebrow, olive-green upper parts, brown wings and tail; off white underparts with brown tinge on brest shading to yellow on vent and undertail coverts. Upperwing brown, pale yellow below. Skulks in cover, more often heard than seen. Very Shy
Voice : A loud, rish, fluty whistling, also a churring :chrr....chrr..." anxiety call.
Status and distribution : Endemic race. Scrub, forest understorey and shrubby gardens of lowlands and hills to 1000m. Common in dry zone.
Nesting : In cup low in bush or scrub. Possible anytime but mainly February-March and December
