Cuenta la leyenda de la Maruxaina que desde tiempos inmemorables, vive esta nereida en las profundidades del mar cercano a las islas de los Farillos, allí en el lugar donde más fuerte golpea el océano enfurecido y el viento nocturno que acompaña a las tormentas, gira y brama en las rocas y acantilados. A veces esta ninfa marina sale a hilar a lo alto de la isla de la Sombriza, vigilando el mar y a los marineros…
