Este ejemplar de saltamontes, puede ser el protagonista de una de las fábulas más conocidas de Esopo, y que adaptaron otros fabulistas como La Fontaine y Samaniego. LA CIGARRA Y LA HORMIGA.
A lo largo del verano la cigarra no se dedicó a otro oficio más que cantar y estar tumbada al sol, contemplando cómo la hormiga pasaba cargada de hojas y granos de cereal.
Llegó el invierno, y la cigarra temblando de frío y hambrienta, se acercó a la hormiga mendigando alimento. A lo que ésta respondió, según los versos de Samaniego: “¡Yo prestar lo que gano con un trabajo inmenso!. Dime, pues, holgazana, ¿qué has hecho en el buen tiempo?... “Yo, dijo la cigarra, a todo pasajero cantaba alegremente, sin cesar ni un momento”
Y dijo la hormiga: “¡Hala! ¿Con que cantabas cuando yo andaba al remo?. Pues ahora, que yo como, baila, pese a tu cuerpo”.

Throughout the summer the cicada is not dedicated to another office but sing and be lying in the sun, watching the ant went laden leaves and cereal grains.
Winter came, and the grasshopper shivering and hungry, approached the ant begging food. To which she responded, according to verses of Samaniego: "I pay my income with a huge job!. Tell me, then, lazy, what have you done in good weather? ... "I said the grasshopper, all passenger sang cheerfully, without ceasing for a moment"
And the ant said: "Hala! How you sang when I was walking to rowing?. For now, I eat, dance, despite your body. "
The moral is clear.
