Uno de los lugares elegidos para esculpir colosales estatuas de Buda durante los siglos V y VI por los monjes budistas, que vivían como ermitaños en cuevas, fue el valle Bamiyán, en Afganistán, situado en el corazón de la Ruta de la Seda. Se cree que se esculpieron picando los acantilados, no obstante, los obreros aplicaron dos o tres capas de barro para formar las vestimentas.
Estas figuras resistieron miles de años los avatares de la historia y la erosión, hasta que la estupidez y locura humana acabaron con ellas en el año 2001. Los talibanes destruyeron las figuras dinamitando el acantilado y disparando desde los tanques....

One of the places chosen to sculpt colossal Buddha statues in the V and VI by Buddhist monks, who lived as hermits in caves, was the Bamiyan Valley in Afghanistan, located in the heart of the Silk Road. It is believed that itching sculpted cliffs, however, the workers applied two or three coats of mud to form garments.
These figures withstood thousands of years of history avatars and erosion, until human stupidity and madness ended with them in 2001. The Taliban destroyed the figures dynamiting the cliff and firing from tanks ....
