Las características de la madera de chopo son muy similares a las especies tropicales blandas como okume, calabó, fuma, etc. La gran ventaja del chopo con respecto a estas es que en realidad es un cultivo forestal (no es un bosque natural) y las plantaciones se localizan normalmente en los terrenos tradicionales de cultivos agrícolas, en el entorno de los cauces fluviales (ecosistemas especialmente sensibles), con una clara función protectora frente a inundaciones y empleando cantidades mínimas de fertilizantes y pesticidas con respecto a los cultivos agrícolas.

The characteristics of poplar wood are very similar to soft tropical species as okoume, Calabó, smoke, etc.. The great advantage of poplar about these is that it is actually a forest crop (not a natural forest) and plantations are usually located on the traditional lands of agricultural crops in the vicinity of river channels (especially sensitive ecosystems) with a clear protective function against flooding and using minimal amounts of fertilizers and pesticides compared to agricultural crops.
