Black Ice

Avoca Beach Headland, NSW, Australia.

Anyone that's walked along coastal headlands would have found wet black rock that's as slippery as ice. From where I did this panoramic, the entire walk here was caked with this black ice. Hence why I named this panoramic so..

Taking baby steps, lifting knees, no shift of my ankles and testing each step, I ended up at this spot.

I wanted to go further to my right but it would have been just suicide. It was bad enough to get to this spot but traveling further I'm pretty sure a tiny slip would have been unavoidable and I would have traveled into the water with all my camera gear. Besides.. the spot where I took these photos I had a nice, safe comfy ledge I was able to sit on.

This image is made from 13 portrait images each with 3 exposures.

Can you spot the crab?
