One of the best sequels in all of film, ALIENS performs on numerous levels—action movie, monster movie, war movie, and the heavy dueling mothers facet. Cameron goes a step further than he did in The Terminator in establishing the female as the action hero: Terminator protagonist Sarah Connor defends her life; but ALIENS Ellen Ripley goes full gangsta with a machinegun, flamethrower, and a belt of grenades to save her surrogate child by blasting the acid-crap out of big mama bug and her nasty offspring! A smart script performed by a game cast makes ALIENS watchable over and over—Ripley kicking xenomorph ass never gets old! Bravo, all!
