Constantine's swallowtail
The Constantine's swallowtail (Papilio constantinus) is a species of butterfly in the family Papilionidae (the Swallowtails).
This African Swallowtail is endemic and widespread in the tropical African countries south of the Sahara Desert.
The wingspan is 70–90 mm in males and 80–95 mm in females.
The ground colour is black with pale yellow or white markings.
Het Constantijns zwaluwstaartje of Constantijns pege (Papilio constantinus) is een dagvlinder uit de familie Papilionidae, de grote pages. De vlinder is wijdverbreid in de tropische Afrikaanse landen ten zuiden van de Sahara. De vleugelspanwijdte is 70-90 mm bij mannetjes en 80-95 mm bij vrouwtjes.
De grondkleur is zwart met lichtgele of witte aftekeningen.
Deze foto is gemaakt in de overdekte tropische vlindertuin van zorgboerderij De Passiflorahoeve bij Harskamp op de Veluwe.
