Autumn leaf (Doleschallia bisaltide)

The autumn leaf (Doleschallia bisaltide) is a nymphalid butterfly found in South Asia, Southeast Asia, and Australasia. In Australia it is also known as the leafwing.

The butterfly, with a wing span of 7.5 - 8.5 cm, is common in montane forest at low to moderate elevations and is frequently found on forest paths and forest edge.

This picture was taken in the tropical butterfly garden Klein Costa Rica in Someren, the Netherlands.

 

Het herfstblaadje (Doleschallia bisaltide) is een vlinder die voorkomt in Zuid- en Zuidoost-Azië en Australazië.

De vlinder, met een vleugelspanwijdte van 7,5 à 8,5 cm, komt veel voor in bossen op berghellingen tot hoogtes van 1500 meter en wordt vaak aangetroffen op bospaden en langs bosranden.

Deze foto is gemaakt in de tropische vlindertuin van Klein Costa Rica in Someren.
