Black-tipped diadem (Hypolimnas monteironis)
The black-tipped diadem or scarce blue diadem (Hypolimnas monteironis) is a central African butterfly in the family Nymphalidae from the tropical countries south of the Sahara Desert.
The habitat consists of forests. The wingspan of the eggfly or diadem is 7,5 - 8,0 cm for males and 7,5 - 9,0 cm for females.
This picture was taken in the tropical butterfly house of the botanical gardens of the Utrecht University in the Netherlands.
