The dancer turns one way or the other, sometimes quickly, sometimes slowly or even coming to a halt, making dainty dance steps before spinning again. Unusually, the clockwork mechanism when fully wound will run for about 20 minutes, whereas most clockwork automat run for just a few minutes.
