finished weldnut closeup

After setting up my Wescott Apollo soft box I quickly saw the limited tilt range that people have been talking about. I decided to work on a cheap solution with a target of less than $20 and after asking for few favors, came in way under budget. The main piece is ½” EMT (electrical conduit) which was bent with two 90 degree bends. I drilled the holes through the center of the pipe and squashed the ends with one weld nut in each end. The weld nuts were spot welded in place so that it would be solid once screwed on. With the new spigot inline with the light stand the balance is the same as the original configuration but provides a much improved tilt range.
