Rugged Edges
At Clear Creek metro park. From this view - the Creek is on over to the right hand side area of this photo, through to those pines in the background. This is one of my favorite places to go, to hike, to sit in quietness, and to fish the shallow cool water surrounded by nature.
The Clear Creek Valley is a special scientific, scenic and geologic area. Centuries of flooding by glacial meltwater have cut the present gorge area through Black Hand sandstone, leaving behind scenic cliffs and rugged formations overlooking Clear Creek.
Hiking trails begin at each parking area. Many trails require some climbing, since there is a 300-foot elevation gain from the valley floor to the ridgetop.
The topography of the park is extremely rugged, with many steep ravines, rock outcroppings and cliff faces.
