Ocelot

Ok if you have never heard of one you are not alone. They are only found in South America and we are on the other side of the world. Also they are pretty elusive, nocturnal and quite small. A baby leopard.

We had fantastic views from a hide in the forest (read mosquito paradise). The lodge where we were staying was about 500 metres away and they put chicken in a tree to lure this Ocelot out for the tourists. So a ‘fake’ sighting BUT pretty exciting anyway. The next night she did not come out. She must have caught enough food or was sick of the chicken.

I levitated because the mozzies lifted me up and deposited me back in the lodge with 572 bites. I am still itching and I am in Perth.
