Corpach Wreck

Scotland, Fort William (UK). The Corpach wreck, also known as the Old Boat of Caol, is a historic fishing vessel located near Fort William, Scotland. Ben Nevis stands spectacularly in the background.

The wreck is the remains of a fishing vessel named MV Dayspring, built in 1975. Originally designed for fishing in the North Sea, it was later renamed Golden Harvest. The ship was moored at various locations, including Kinlochleven Pier, before it was moved to Camusnagaul Bay. In 2011, a severe storm caused the vessel to break free from its moorings and wash ashore between the villages of Corpach and Caol, where it has remained ever since.

It's a major attraction for visitors and photographers so the image could be seen as either iconic or a cliche depending on your point of view. I can only say that if you visit the Fort William area I would recommend the wreck as a must-do.....you will know when you see it!. I managed 3 or 4 decent shots from different angles and we were lucky that Ben Nevis was visible underneath the clouds when we visited in autumn 2024. I've cropped this one 16:9 just to try and give it a slightly different perspective whilst keeping Ben Nevis also in view.
