We are accustomed to seeing blue, yellow, purple, white and grey budgerigars in captivity, but this rainbow range of colour mutations is only beneficial in the aviaries of breeders. Any deviation from the illustrated norm would result in their absence from the breeding pool and a meal for a hawk.
