Lush grass and shady trees relieve the harshness of sculpted dunes near Sesriem in the Hardap region of Namibia's south-west.

From memory and judging by the number of footprints in the sand, this is the Big Mama Dune at Sossusvlei. Climbers follow the sharp ridge line for a 650 foot climb to the top.
