Stone Pitching
In a remote bush area, between Isisford and Ilfracombe is a large area of stone pitching, constructed around 1892. Dry stone walls combined with flat stones stacked on their edge, side by side, created a small dam and an erosion-proof water course. Stones were probably transported long distances to the site and arranged by skilled workers, often Chinese, in these fascinating patterns.
