Beaches of North Brabant (V) with ’Vreugdenhil’ Milk Powder Factory (21 × 9)
► █░▓ ≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈ A VACANT beach at the peak of the summer in the densest populated country in Europe. On my walk along the left shore of the Boven Merwede river over Natuurgebied Sleeuwijkerwaard (the nature resort named after the adjacent village). Across the river lies the province of South Holland. This stretch of the northern shore is dominated by "Vreugdenhil Dairy Foods" (Nestlé) milk powder factory, with all those containers and two freighter vessels ready for shipping. It processes 1,5 billion kilograms of milk annually. In the country where 1 litre of gasoline has the price of 2 litres of milk, they still end the year with a sound profit. Commendable and incredible result for a 'family company'! But, behind (or above) them is what in 2014 has become the world’s largest food and beverage company. The Dutch agriculture production and dairy in particular compete successfully with the two largest EU economies (France and Germany) and, since 2020, with its own government.
