December glow above Ravni Žabljak - DURMITOR NATIONAL PARK

► █░▓ RAVNI ŽABLJAK sinks in the cool shade while the last sun of December's first day hits the slopes of Pitomine - seconds before rolling down behind the 'Soha Nebeska' high ridge.

November hasn't brought the normally expected moderate snowfall. Just a little. But the winter has set in. It will now take five to six months before life takes on again at these wonderful meadows.

-You'd say this is wilderness, but it is not really. Though over 1400 m elevated above sea level, Ravni Žabljak actually lies in the heart of populated area between Žabljak town, Crno jezero (Black Lake) and Pitomine.

Panasonic DMC-G80 with Olympus 40-150mm f/4-5.6 lens at the shortest end. Widest aperture f/4 at shutter speed 1/100. Camera's low ISO 250. Handheld.

Out-of-the-camera jpeg, slightly edited (color correction) in the commendable IrfanView. Arguably the best viewer available for Windows. Fast, light on memory and processing. No nonsense software, scientifically conceived, with superb UI ergonomics. Plus basic editing tools. And that all for free!
