Tycho Brahe (1546-1601) was a Danish scientist, and one of the pioneering astronomers. He built the first observatory in the world on the island of Ven outside the Swedish coast, and measured the positions of stars and planets with an accuracy far better than any predecessor. One of his assistants/pupils was Johannes Kepler who later used his accurate data to formulate the laws of planetary orbits.
