Formidable feeding machine...

Navanax inermis takes a bubble snail, Haminoea virescens, in a shallow tidepool at Naples Point, on the south coast of Santa Barbara County. The shell of the latter was about 1 cm long.

 

The feeding response is set up by contact by those translucent sensory bristles, and ingestion is triggered by contact with the pointed edges of the pharynx which appear midway through the video. Navanax specializes on other sea slugs, especially bubble snails and nudibranchs with soft bodies.
