Backstreet Kyoto

I find that the backstreets of cities give a more accurate feel of place than the famed sights.

 

So ... I give you backstreet Kyoto with its lovingly cultivated and beautiful pot gardens at the edge of the street, the bustling little neighbourhood shops, the profusion of overhead electric cables, a feeling of safety and a total lack of concession to the demands of tourism. This is my favourite shot of Kyoto because of its authenticity.
