As you can see there isn't a dark shadow being cast from my hand. I set up 3 lamps over my drawing table. 1 on each side with a regular household 100w bulb and 1 fluorescent in the middle to diffuse the 2 light sources. This helps alot because a heavy shadow can fuck me up and I'll miss the line I'm trying to ink. But that's just me.

 

Also keep in mind that you should rotate the drawing to fit with the way you ink or draw. If you tape it down you compromise the way your hand and wrist move.

 

Here's a process thread on how I sketched, pencilled, and inked the Dino Jr poster. Hopefully it will give people some insight to how I work and the tools I use in the process.

 

I finally have a place to direct people when they ask me about technique.
