Standard Oil Station and Masonic Lodge Grandfalls, Texas
There's not much left of "downtown Grandfalls". The town's population peaked in the 1960 census at 1012 in 1960, having grown since the discovery of oil nearby in 1928. Since then, the town has shrunk to 230 residents, making it a near ghost town. This photo was taken shortly before sunset. Note the faded advertising on the garage (Standard Oil Products/Lubrication). To the right and behind the station is the abandoned Grandfalls Masonic Lodge 995.
