Lo Pan Temple

"Lo Pan is the patron of builders. We offer and pray to him to keep us safe and bring luck in our tasks. Rituals have evolved in Our City that did not exist before. It may seem strange in our technological age, but many believe that divine favor is just as important to make a building strong as good planning and materials. For many, especially Lo Pan’s devoted, the creation of a building is both a physical and spiritual task. They are linked. Rituals are performed not just here, but at the site. Prayers said as the scaffolding is erected, as the bricks are laid. Such buildings last longer, I think. Perhaps it’s just because these builders care more about their work. Who am I really to say? But for me, I believe in the power of these rituals."

The Lo Pan shrine in Sector 4 was not merely a place of worship, but a meeting ground for builders and people interested in their trade. A person moving to a new apartment might ask there about the building's construction. Chances are, someone knew whether the work was done properly. Workers likewise used the shrine as a place to look for reputable construction jobs. It was, in fact, one of the city's best resources on the history and quality of construction, especially for places like Sector 4, where no official records were kept.
