Water Level Back Alley
" All of the slabs started out as solid squares and rectangles, but many were extensively modified as permanent structures were added. A common modification was to cut an inlet into one or more sides to access the center of the slab. These waterways are not considered part of the canal system in the city, and are completely in private hands hand or, more often, no hands at all. Sunlight doesn't reach places like that, and the surveillance system is typically not in place at Water Level. Such inlets are used for collecting trash and dropping off cargo away from prying eyes. I would avoid the inlets, even during the day, if I were you."

A portion of the inlet and back alley of my cyperpunk city island. The roughest part of a rough part of town. Eventually, it will be a narrow waterway with another similar back alley opposite this one. The buildings get wider as they go up, so this space is completely covered by structure.
