Dylan Thomas Remembered....
Enviro 200 MX63 WZW has now had its' special livery to mark the 100th anniversary of the great Poet's birth.Here it is on the 141 at Gorseinon about an hour ago .So what difference will having Dylan Thomas all over it make to this ordinary bus?
Dylan Thomas On My Side
I was just a little white bus
To get you there without a fuss
Til today that is
As since they dressed me up like this
I still go about keeping time
Though now I'm compelled to think in rhyme
This morning a jockey got on at Morriston Cross
The library housed his grazing horse
My driver asked him where too
He said," my friend,I've broke my knee"
We'd better stop at A&E
A single please incase I stay
I'll have a wait anyway
After hospital it's the crem
Where friends depart and others remember them
Then I pass the Plough and Harrow
Turn right for that dead end that's long and narrow
I pick a few up there and turned back too
One was an old guy with manure in a barrow
What else could I do
I pass the café and the big office in the woods
Annoying when I wait for trucks delivering goods
A girl got on got me thinking
As she swore she saw Dylan winking
Pontlliw next and there was Huw
A big fat chap who likes Irish stew.
My driver was yawning
Huw wished him top of the morning
Tidy but few passengers come from Pontlliw
I can blink and miss Tircoed
Another nice place,nice people
A radio station under the cabin with a steeple
Don't see many though when I stop
I guess that all they want is in the village shop
Next we're in Penllergaer
Quite a few regulars come from there
They've three reasons to reach Gorseinon
Shopping,Doctors or to sign on
Then we hit town, stop by the station loo
Call of nature,the drivers do
Then it's round the houses,Loughor and Penyrheol
Remembering the order takes the wisdom of an owl
So I'm a little white bus with a hero on my side
Don't hesitate and come for a ride
Though spare a thought for a genius of yore
Read his work if you haven't before
And follow next year if you want to know more....
