Patricio (also known as PVB) is another original mobile artist. I frequently refer to him as MASTER of the Apps, because he is known for using multiple apps to create many of his masterpieces. He is one of the most prolific mobile-artists (thankfully--what would we do without such inspiration). This is a sample of his earlier work. He mentioned sitting in a park during lunch and taking in the landscape. This piece, to me, reflects his master-ability to capture mood and impact with using an intricate knowledge of linework and color. You see in this piece that he skillfully selected a simple color pallette--one that offers the boldest impact. I used to peruse his landscapes in winter--peaced me out on many evening commutes. PVB/master app'er, colorist, and policeman/the highest inspiration...thanks for the courage.

very difficult to select a fave from this guy. So, I have opted to find a piece that best reflects his style (he has many tho, so don't think this is JUST IT), his linework (those infamous white lines on a contrasting background), his great use of color, and his compositional brilliance. Patricio is also a musician, and you can see lyrical hints in many (if not all) of his paintings. This is an animal abstraction, but also reminds me of a piano...the hair reminds me of both a lion's mane AND a reflection of piano keys...the mood is quite jazzy...and the light from within--well, it inspires every hunt, don't it?
(see above too...the trees line up like music notes on a score...hmmmmmmm....)

Here is to Blu.yanaka! He's had several works that have made me stop and go "Whoa." This is one of the first. I was torn between posting this one and the one of the red room, but you can go check that one for yourselves. Blu's work is VERY introspective. He is known for his surrealistic self portraits. I also know him for his perspective work, as well. Most of his work makes me think of solitary soul, sort of drifting in some purgatory land (or room, in this case). I am very touched (emotionally) by his real and honest depictions of self--as I have had moments, where in my mind, I've found myself in this very situation. :-) blu/honesty and brilliance/my surrealistic bar buddy...:-)...i always miss your work when you're gone, but I know you'll come back, better than ever. :-)

This is my absolute favorite piece by blu. To me, it represents a fed-up-ness with life (is that a word? it is now. lol), but that unending desire to survive in spite of it all. You just can't give up...even when you do. I lOVE IT. This image talked me down off my own bedroom dresser...for that, I am indebted to you, Dear Blu. :-)

And what would a master be without a mistress?!
SuziQ (i just realized I somehow added a Q to the end of Suzi...lol)...also known as Susan Murtaugh to many. Speaking of Masters...this woman, to me, is the absolute QUEEN of linework and movement. This little bird clock instantly grabbed my attention. I was not only moved by the sweep of the lines in this one, but also by the level of lightheartedness and fun she puts into her work. That is what ultimately makes her an amazing artist. This little birdie told me that this was only the tip of the iceberg...what a wise one, this bird. Suzi(q)/linemaster/movement/and how does she make those little bubbles, anyway?!/they must just spill out of her soul! so fun!

Did i mention she was also known for her amazing portraits?! And I can promise you, she can take it to any level. From a swooping of line work, to a sweeping of color. Very deliberate--CLEARLY she is a very cultivated artist--who we can ALL learn a lot from. Check out her tutorials--you can really learn something. It was really difficult to choose a favorite here, but I think this one displays just about everything I love about her: lines, movement/color/soul/life

Okay, VERY HARD to choose. I saw two images by this brilliant artist--and I thought they were done by two different people--until WAAAAY later. Here is one of them. I saw this one on the iCreated app (mobile art gallery--if you haven't downloaded this, you should, it includes work by of great mobile-artists, INCLUDING fhierro). This is just beautiful, the texture, the mood. I knew right away that he was one I needed to follow. and for good reason--the brushstroke below the texture is equally impressive. fhierro/sensuality/reflection/luscious color/beautiful matter/another master colorist...
Mia says:
I must also add, that Fheirro was the person who finally inspired me to ask "what is up with this 'week' business?!" Turns out, there was a flickr group who created pieces on an assigned subject/artist. AMAAAAZING group. Fhierro produced this piece for the theme "distance"...i love the cool color pallette...the brushtroke here reminds me of a water reflection. The floor looks clean and slippery. The mood is very crisp, clean, sterile...the perspective is awesome. This piece demonstrates just how talented this fhierro is. I'm a follower for good.

Illustrations by the great 3-5 (also known as Farik). 3-5's work is distinctly his own. Which is precisely why I love it--he is one of the few who's work I immediately recognize. I enjoy his brilliant play on subject matter--whether it be some sci fi creature creeping up from the red abyss or a portrait of a dear friend. He is awesome at what he does. 3-5/work/vision/passion...moves mountains..and makes for a quite impressive illustration...

HGB also known as Helene. I love her abstractions. She, like her cousin PVB, has mastered the art of using multiple apps to create her pieces. Her style (though in the family--must be in the bloodline :-) is very much so her own. I know her work for the way she fills the space. her compositions, to me, look built--like her vision organically comes to life and grows into a final masterpiece. I love this piece for three reasons: her mastered use of pollock, the beautiful warm spring colors and the overall composition. Helene/queen of the apps/bold brush and line work/a touch of inspiration in the right direction--one thing about her artwork...for some reason, it always makes me go right back to my own (in this very moment, iw ant to pick up and my iphone and create a piece.) thank you Helene!

This is ONE of my favorite pieces by HGB. I was torn between this one and the Lady in the Green Hat (forgive me--i'm horrible with titles). Helene was recently inspired by Joan Miro--and you can see how she made it her own. I think this is an absolutely beautiful illustration of her ability to SEE and construct and amazing composition. (not anybody can do that, folks!)
