Lady Bug & Empty Pupa

I don't know much about the life cycle of ladybugs but will be reading up. It appears they may have a weird larval stage. My knowledge of the day. This ladybug has recently emerged from its pupa (shell on right). It is now an adult. (Lifecycle: eggs - larva - pupa - adult)
