Floating away to Happyland on the bubbles - 1 of 3
Took a road trip to visit my siblings in Dallas back in early March, before everything got crazy. It was all about some time with family, so I didn't do too much shooting. But my sister and brother-in-law were sweet to see that I had a chance to get some of the neon I've been longing to photograph. The clouds parted just in time and I was crazy thrilled to get this amazing iconic 1953 sign at last!! And yes, we came back for the night glow too - see next shot. : ) Didn't need any liquor, got all the buzz I could handle from the sign!
This great neon was originally at the Inwood Rd & Lemmon Ave location, but was moved up to Addison, a northern suburb, when the Inwood store closed in 2009. Finally, in 2017, Dallas got it back when it was installed at the Greenville Ave location across from Old Town Shopping Center. Yep, people like me show up just to bask in the neon glow!
