Dad's Birthday Cake
The musical instrument on top of the cake is a miniature replica of the Chinese instrument (called the erhu) that my dad plays. He is self taught and it is his passion. I had alot of problems with the small strings on the erhu as they were so delicate and kept breaking. I should have used real string!
This is a 6 inch lemon cake covered in ivory fondant. The bottom ribbon and the erhu is made with chocolate fondant and the cherry blossoms are made with gumpaste.
