Drawn To The Light

Stairs up to my Airbnb. What struck me most about Cuba was the friendliness of the people. Yes, some of it is affected, as there is hustling going on. The byproduct of living under a communist gov't and the wanting of a prosperous life just like any other. The daily toil of scraping by. Mini annoyances and accostations that become customary. There were many other instances however where I was treated so well from complete strangers that do not readily have for themselves. I was also to discover that staying at an Airbnb or a Casa Particular increases the respect and generosity that Cubans demonstrate already. You get the thumbs up when they ask you where you are staying. For the simple reason that the money goes to them and their families as opposed to the government from the state controlled hotels.
