Angel's Landing
The climb to Zion National Park's Angel's Landing is long, steep, arduous and, well...challenging. It involves three miles of steep switchbacks, with a 1500 foot elevation gain, with the final several thousand feet traversing a 60 degree angled rock face with thousand foot drop offs beneath your feet ... and nothing but a chain to hold on to. This is not a hike for the faint hearted or for those who don't like heights, but it is one of the most stunning and popular climbs in the entire national park system. Your reward comes after several hours of climbing when, upon reaching the summit, the whole world seems to open up before you. Travel as lightly as possible on this hike, leave the tripod and heavy lenses behind, avoid the heat of summer and carry plenty of water for this once in a lifetime experience. The bad news - a sore back, tired feet and achy knees by the time you're back at the parking lot. The good news - you will sleep like the dead that night after you return to your room and you'll feel like a million bucks for having made the effort! Zion National Park, Utah. VIEW ON BLACK OR GRAY:
