Northern Pacific Rattlesnake

One of the poisonous snake in the Western US, the Northern Pacific Rattlesnake is to be avoided. All three of our sightings were peaceful with the snakes moving away and not "coiling up". This snake appears to have caught and eaten a mouse, judging from its midsection size. One snake gave us the rattle warning noise. June 10, 2011 at Smith Rocks.
