Historical Ticonderoga, NY

Just 3 1/2 miles separate Lake Champlain [once controlled by the French pushing south] and the Hudson River / Lake George corridor [controlled by the British who were pushing north]. The French settlers who built Fort Ticonderoga controlled a very strategic passage point between the two waterways. It's easy to see why so much fighting went on here in the 1700's. Generals such as Burgoyne and Montcalm and Americans like Benedict Arnold, Ethan Allen and his Green Mountain Boys saw action here. This monument commemorates some of that history [sorry, no shots of the Fort itself as we did not go there]
