Perhaps America Will Be Great Again Now!
Do you know how hard it is to find one of these stickers on anything these days? Of course you do! It's even harder to find one that says Made in Canada. I make a point of trying to buy things that are labelled Made In USA or Made in Canada. If you can manage to find such products, I can assure you they are of much, much better quality than their counterparts made elsewhere. And, I can personally give you example upon example!
For years now, long before this election, I've been totally amazed that US citizens have allowed their elected representatives to let their steel mills, auto factories, and other manufacturing industries move out of the country. Quite a few tourists from the US pass through this province during the summer and if I have occasion to speak to any of them, I always ask them to explain it to me. Most that I've spoken to have difficulty doing that. Don't like it, but can't really explain why the electorate didn't do anything about it.
Well, now, you have a President Elect that has at least brought the problem to the forefront... and that, of course is always the first step ... and has promised to do something about it. ( And, as far as his cabinet is concerned, I hope he picks Trey Gowdy as his Attorney General]
I, for one, hope he does do something about it. If I were American, I would definitely have voted for him. And even though, I'm not ... around 4:30 AM local time this morning after watching the results all night, I was wishing I had an American flag. If I had had one, I would definitely have gone out and run it up the flagpole on my front lawn.
A couple of other things to note: From as far back as I can remember, the media has never been biased, never took one side or the other, was always fair and impartial. That is certainly not so anymore. And that is definitely too bad. CNN, CBS, NBC, ABC, and FOX have lost all credibility! They are now trying to be king makers ... or in this case, I guess I should say queen maker ... instead of just reporting the news and not trying to make it. And last night they were so, so surprised that that it didn't go their way. Couldn't figure out why it didn't. Well, I for one, was delighted about that!
And to all those pathetic second rate celebrities that threatened to move to Canada if Trump won, let me say this: You need to get behind your new president and give him your support when he tries to make America the manufacturing giant it once was. Instead of running away. And we all know you aren't going to run away, anyway. It's the country that made you what you are. You're all talk, no action. And you know what? Are you sure Canada wants you? I, for one, don't! For me, loyalty is one of the most important qualities you can have. And if you run away, or try to run away, you certainly don't have it! [ Which reminds me of the former point ... I watched the results on ABC last night. Do you know George Stephanopoulos gave $75,000 to the Clinton campaign. He can really be impartial now, can't he? His wife, by the way, said they will be moving to Australia if Trump won. How much would you bet that happens? Would loved to have been able to ask him as the results came in last night if he had his airline ticket bought yet :-) ]
And then there's others like Robert de Niro. I don't think he threatened to move to Canada, but he certainly disgraced himself. He's a has been ... consigned to acting in crap like Dirty Grandpa. And he should know better! Remember when he made The Deer Hunter back in 1978? Got an Academy Award nomination for that one. A lot of steel mill towns in Ohio and Pennsylvania stood in for the fictitious town in that movie. Bet those towns were a lot more prosperous back then than they are now. Maybe he saw that? Maybe he should go back and look at them now? Maybe he should listen to the man who wants to do something about that. Meanwhile, what is he planning to do? Look for another B-movie script ... probably worse than Bad Grandpa?
By the way, if you think I don't know anything about American politics, let me assure you I definitely do! And, as far as this election is concerned, I've been keeping up with the developments almost daily for months now.
