Paradigm Shift

Paradigm Shift ... A major change in how some process is accomplished . It can certainly happen when a new piece of technology radically alters the way of doing something and, as a consequence, results in a better product.

That certainly is applicable to photography. Shooting wildlife ... especially small birds ... had lost much of its charm for me. Unable to get the detail I wanted in certain shots was quite often disappointing and resulted in a general lack of interest. But a new piece of technology is perhaps about to change all that.

This shot, and the other two I uploaded ( I don't usually do that) were taken hand held from a distance of at least twenty five feet ... from a parked vehicle, across a logging road, shooting up into a tree. Frankly, considering all that, the amount of feather detail amazed me. This same day I went on to shoot even smaller birds which were closer to me than this and the results were even better. I think I can truly say that my interest has been rekindled.

My old Sigma 150-500mm was good ... still is. No question about it! Actually, I managed to take a pretty good shot of Saturn with it a few nights ago ( with a 2x teleconverter attached). But it certainly seems as if the Sigma Sport 150- 600 is much, much better.
