This is a short-long photo story, on Holy Friday procession, that took place this year in the Sicilian town of the medieval city of Randazzo: Unlike what is observed in the rites of Good Friday, in Randazzo goes into the penitential procession the simulacrum of the SS. Crucifix, rather than float with the statue with the Dead Christ . The procession was organized by the "Brotherhood of Our Lady of Sorrows " belonging to the church of St. Peter, which held the wooden crucifix of the six hundredth century, and the statue of Our Lady of Sorrows, whose floats are brought by devotees on their shoulders ; all the brotherhoods of the city participate that religious event, with the presence of so many "characters" ( played by kids and teens, like St. John the Baptist, the Veronica , the three Pious Women, Martha, Mary Magdalene and Mary, the Angel, the two Nicodemous, Joseph of Arimathea and Nicodemus ) ; finally, the procession is animated by the presence of the people, the clergy, the civil and military authorities . The Crucifix is typically lit by candles that are enclosed in glass bowls , as also the float of the Virgin of Sorrows is lit by candles, enclosed within " lanterns of ancient memory " in glass. The procession ( accompanied by the mournful sound of the band , from the ejaculatory cries from devotees who constantly invoke the SS.Crucifix and the Virgin of Sorrows ) along a long path , which also becomes very tiring for the presence of a steep hill (the road uphill of San Bartolo);
The procession then arrives in the church of St. George and then return back to the church of St. Peter, from which it had started the procession.
